This is True Detroit!

Welcome to Detroit!

The Motor City, Detroit has been a thriving city since the French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac founded the city in 1701. Detroit, founded as a fur post, quickly blossomed into a busy city thanks to its position on the Detroit River. The city also became a critical theatre of war during the War of 1812. Detroit was already synonymous with cars by the early 20th century, when Henry Ford and his successors revolutionised mass production. This change transformed the economy as well as drawing workers from around the country and abroad, leaving behind a unique culture. Yet the city has struggled economically and demographically in the past few decades. Even though all these challenges remain, Detroit continues to reinvent itself through innovation and creativity and by celebrating its varied and oftentimes painful history. It is a model for perseverance today: with a flourishing arts community, new neighborhoods, and a commitment to community revival, it’s a joy to discover and live.

Detroit is not just a hub of innovation and culture; it is also a paradise for sports enthusiasts, food lovers, and entertainment seekers. Home to iconic teams like the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Pistons, the city boasts an electric sports scene that brings fans together at games throughout the year. When it comes to food, Detroit’s culinary landscape is equally impressive, with its famous deep-dish pizza and the mouth-watering Coney dogs that are a must-try for visitors. Additionally, the city’s entertainment scene is vibrant and diverse, offering everything from live music at historic venues to a thriving arts community that includes theaters and galleries, making it a captivating destination for everyone.
